Patna: Chandigarh batsmen continued their runfest in their first innings on the third day of the multi-day Col CK Nayudu Trophy match against hosts Bihar at the Moinul Haq Stadium here on Tuesday.
Opener Harnoor Singh who was not out on 187 at the end of the second day’s play, batted more freely on the third day and in the process completed his double century. Resuming the day at 382 for the loss of three wickets, Chandigarh declared their second innings at 616 for the loss of nine wickets. Harnoor Singh played an immaculate innings of 266 runs off 279 balls with 30 boundaries and five towering sixes. Wicketkeeper batsman Mayank Sidhu too played an aggressive knock of 91 runs off 128 balls with 10 boundaries. Chandigarh took a first-inning lead of 311 runs over Bihar.
For Bihar, Himanshu Singh bagged five wickets off 41 overs, giving away 202 runs.
In their second innings, Bihar were 157 for the loss of one wicket with Ankit Raj (not out 58) and captain Akash Raj (not out 68) on the crease until the stumps were drawn for the day. Bihar were still trailing by 154 runs.
