RGTA players excel in ITF J30 Bhubaneswar Tournament

Mohali, May 11: Roundglass Tennis Academy (RGTA) athletes Praneel Sharma won the singles event while the pair of Ojas Mehlawat and Adhiraj Thakur emerged victorious in doubles category of the J30 Bhubaneswar ITF World Tennis Junior Tour 2024 which was held in Bhubaneshwar.

Third seeded Praneel beat top seed Debasis Sahoo 6-4, 7-5 in straight sets to secure the title. In the semi-finals, he got the better of second seed, Shanker Heisnam in a three set thriller 3-6, 6-2, 7-5. He met his doubles partner, Aditya Mor in the quarterfinals and beat him 7-6, 6-1. Meanwhile another Roundglass athlete, Aashravya Mehra faltered at the semi-finals stage, losing to Debasis Sahoo in three sets (6-7, 6-1, 3-6).

In the doubles category, the unseeded pair of Ojas Mehlawat and Adhiraj Thakur emerged victorious after beating Rohith Gobinath and Thirumurugan Viswanathan 6-3, 6-2 in straight sets. Ojas and Adhiraj created an upset in the semi-finals, beating top seeds and academy mates Aditya Mor and Praneel Sharma 7-6, 6-7 (10-5) in the tie-breaker to book their places in the finals.

Heet Kandoriya finishes Runner Up in the Asian Juniors Tennis Tournament at Assam

Roundglass Tennis Academy athlete, Heet Kandoriya finished second in the Asian Juniors Tennis Tournament which was held at Jorhat, Assam. Third seeded, Heet was beaten by the unseeded Chadogrya Tridive Pathak 6-1, 6-2 in straight sets. In the semi-finals, Heet met another unseeded player in Nibras Kawsar Hussain and won the gruelling contest in three sets (4-6, 6-4, 7-5) for a place in the finals.
