Watchman selected as assistant professor in PG department of Ambedkar Thought and Social Work of TMBU

Bhagalpur: It is well said where there is will there is way. Kamal Kishore Mandal, a watchman in postgraduate department of Ambedkar Thought & Social Work of TM Bhagalpur University has proved the adage true. Mandal would soon join as assistant professor in department of Ambedkar Thought and Social Work where he is serving as watchman till date.

Selected as assistant professor through State University Service Commission in current year, the process of counseling has been completed in his case. It is likely way for his joining department of Ambedkar Thought and Social Work as assistant professor would be paved today.

Three other candidates who had qualified for appointment as assistant professor in same subject have been provided approval for joining by university.

However in case of Mandal his joining had been withheld by university taking into consideration he had been working as watchman in department while he pursued master degree course and also while he was enrolled as research fellow. The university had constituted a four member committee to look whether Mandal had valid permission to pursue higher studies while serving in department.

Dr Ram Pravesh Singh, Dean Students Welfare (DSW), TMBU told view19.in that in light of report of committee, joining of Mandal is likely to be cleared today by university. A resident of Mundichak locality of city life had been always difficult for Mandal.

Financially underprivileged, sustenance had been major problem of his family. Father of Mandal earns livelihood running a road side tea stall in his locality. It was because of financial problem in his family, Mandal joined as watchman in RD&DJ College, Munger in 2003. He was subsequently transferred to postgraduate department of Ambedkar Thought & Social Work.

It was his strong desire to pursue higher studies that led him join master degree course of Ambedkar Thought and social work in 2007-09 session. Subsequently enrolled as research scholar he was awarded Ph.D degree in year 2013. He qualified National Eligibility Test in political science in year 2018.

Mandal contacted by view19.in   thanked teachers of the department for motivating him as well as extending him all cooperation in pursuing higher studies. He said he had secured permission from university authorities for attending classes of master degree course held in morning hours. After attending classes he used to perform his duty as watchman from 2PM to 10 PM, Mandal informed.

He added for study he used to utilize his leisure time. Academics always fascinated him Mandal said adding securing teaching job is dream come true for him.
