In a special meeting of the Basic, Secondary, Higher and Vocational Education Department on Friday, the Chief Minister reviewed the updated status of under-construction schools/colleges, ITIs, and polytechnics and gave instructions to balance the teacher-student ratio in the schools as per the standards. Major guidelines given by the Chief Minister in the meeting…

● In all basic, secondary, higher, technical, and vocational educational institutions operating in aspirational districts, adequate teachers should be deployed as a matter of priority. There should be no shortage of teachers and other human resources anywhere.

●When appointing district school inspectors, merit should be a key consideration. Immediate placements should be made in districts with vacant posts. Ensuring a balanced teacher-student ratio in schools under the Basic Education Council’s purview, as per established standards, is essential. In cases where there is an excess of teachers, efforts should be made to accommodate them elsewhere as needed.

● The work of upgrading 746 Kasturba Gandhi Girls Schools running from classes 6 to 8 should be completed as soon as possible. In the session 2023-24, 136 schools have been upgraded, while the upgradation of 512 under construction is going on. Get the remaining work completed in a timely manner. The appointment of teachers should also be completed here by next December. This effort to upgrade Kasturba Gandhi schools will benefit approximately 1.25 lakh girls.

● Apart from the districts covered by Atal Residential Schools, start preparations for the establishment of one ‘Chief Minister Model Composite School’ in each of the remaining 57 districts. The campus of ‘Chief Minister Model Composite School’ should be 5–10 acres. For this, the marking of land in the concerned districts should be completed as soon as possible.

● ‘PM SHRI (Prime Minister Schools for Rising India) scheme has been announced by the respected Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi with the aim of comprehensive improvement in basic education. Under the scheme, 1725 government schools in the state have been selected with the cooperation of the Government of India. For the phased upgradation of 925 government schools selected for development in the first phase, all necessary construction work should be completed by next December as per the guidelines of the Government of India.

● Under PM SHRI, ultramodern technical and digital education system is to be developed in these schools in a phased manner in accordance with the principles of the National Education Policy. Smart classes, ICT lab, language lab, science laboratory, and an Atal Tinkering Lab will be established in these schools, and they will also be transformed into green schools through solar panels, LED lighting, energy-efficient resources, poshan vatikas, waste management, water conservation, etc. Skill hub will be developed. This will be of great help in providing good facilities to the children of the state.

● The construction work of the state’s fourth Sainik School in Gorakhpur should be completed by next December. It is scheduled to begin operation in the 2024-25 session, and the entrance examination is set to take place in December. With this goal in mind, all necessary preparations should be completed on time.

● Timely start of the session and timely conduct of examinations should be ensured in every institute. In such a situation, necessary preparations should be made for the upcoming session 2024-25. Textbook distribution in all basic and secondary schools should be completed by February 2024. Funds for uniforms, shoes, and stationery should be sent to all students through DBT in the month of April. 2.36 lakh tablets are to be distributed in schools before December 2023. Prepare for this.

● The construction of buildings and availability of other resources in Maa Shakumbhari University, Saharanpur, Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh State University, Aligarh, Maharaja Suheldev State University, Azamgarh, and Jannayak Chandrashekhar University, Ballia, should be completed within the stipulated time frame with quality. No compromise with the quality of work will be accepted.
