Patna: Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) President Rakesh Tiwari praised Rajasthan Royals batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who set the record for the fastest century by an Indian player in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The BCA President described Vaibhav’s innings as “nothing short of extraordinary”.

Vaibhav, who made his dream IPL debut a few days ago, scored a century in just 35 balls on Monday. He hit seven fours and 11 sixes in this innings, keeping Rajasthan Royals’ hopes of reaching the IPL playoffs alive.

After the match, BCA President Rakesh Tiwari, who was present at the stadium along with the Rajasthan Royals Chairman, expressed immense pride and confidence in Vaibhav’s performance.

“Vaibhav has once again brought laurels to Bihar and the entire country. Scoring the fastest Indian century in IPL history at the age of only 14 is a truly extraordinary achievement. His fearlessness, amazing skill, and maturity beyond his years are inspiring,” said Rakesh Tiwari.

He further said, “I always believed that Vaibhav was destined for greatness, and today he has taken another big step in that direction. This is just the beginning of an extraordinary journey.”

Vaibhav, who opened the innings, shared a 166-run partnership for the first wicket with Yashasvi Jaiswal. Rajasthan Royals scored 166 runs in just 12 overs in the 47th match of IPL 2025 against Gujarat Titans. Just a few days ago, Vaibhav became the youngest player to feature in the IPL.

Last year, Vaibhav became the youngest player to be sold in the IPL auction when Rajasthan Royals bought him for ₹1.1 crore. His brilliant 2024 season saw him excel at both domestic and international levels.

Vaibhav was born on 27 March 2011 in Bihar. He is the youngest player to participate in this year’s IPL. He made his first-class debut for Bihar in January 2024 at the age of just 12 years and 284 days.

On his debut, Vaibhav scored an impressive 71 off 42 balls against Baroda in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024–25, becoming the youngest Indian to score a half-century in List-A cricket.

At the international level, Vaibhav also holds the record for the fastest youth Test century, achieved against Australia in Chennai off just 58 balls. Additionally, he played a key role in India’s journey to the final of the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup by scoring two crucial half-centuries.
