Bhagalpur: A young woman travelling in Gaya bound Kamakhya-Gaya Express who sustained serious head injury, pushed out from train by criminals near Sabour station in Sahebganj -Kiul section of Eastern Railway on intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, died yesterday in course of treatment at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Hospital here.
The victim travelling in a sleeper coach of train was allegedly pushed out from compartment of train when she tried to get hold of criminals fleeing with her bag. Identified as Kajal Kumari (24), a resident of Mojahaidpur ward no five under Parbatta PS of Khagaria district, the deceased was returning from Kamakhya with her relatives including her father, Sunil Pandit.
As informed by relatives some criminals took bag of the victim kept under her pillow while she was asleep in train. The victim who resisted attempt of criminals and reached near door of the compartment following them, was pushed out from compartment while the train was approaching Sabour station.
The train was forcibly stopped after the incident by relatives of the victim and subsequently, she was brought to Bhagalpur station by same train taking into consideration grievously injured victim required advanced treatment, the relatives had informed police.
As per media reports considering various possibilities including details regarding the incident provided by relatives of the victim the matter is presently being investigated by railway police.
In press note issued by Malda division of Eastern Railway regarding the incident it has been stated at around 02.48 AM on Tuesday the train was stopped pulling chain. The RPF escort party in train and train manger who reached soon near the compartment of the train from where chain had been pulled, found a woman had fallen down from compartment.
Assisted by RPF escort party the injured woman was brought inside the train and brought to Bhagalpur in SLRD coach of train along with her relatives, press note has stated. It has been further stated in press note that the injured woman was brought to Bhagalpur due to unavailability of advance treatment facilities at Sabour during late hours.
Meanwhile a detailed enquiry regarding the incident has been initiated by Malda division. It has been informed in press note raids are being conducted for identification and arrest of culprits. Process of review regarding different aspects concerning safety and responsibility is also underway following the incident. In case enquiry reveals negligence if any at any level leading to the incident stern action would be taken against personnel responsible for the negligence, press note has added.
