Patna: In the quarter-final match of the BCA Men’s Senior One Day Trophy held at Moinul Haq Stadium, Patna, Nalanda triumphed over Sitamarhi by 7 wickets, securing their place in the semi-finals.
Sitamarhi, batting first, posted a total of 227 runs before being bowled out in 46.5 overs. Mukesh Mukhiya Sharma was the standout performer for Sitamarhi, scoring an impressive 86 runs off 101 balls, including 9 fours and 2 sixes. Vipul Rakesh Kumar Krishna also contributed significantly with 64 runs off 66 balls, featuring 7 fours and 2 sixes. Other notable contributions came from Kunal Priya Ranjan Srivastava (21 runs), Mrityunjay Kaushal Kishore Singh (16 runs), Vaibhav Vivek Mishra (15 runs), and Munna Jitendra Kumar, who remained unbeaten on 25 runs.
Nalanda’s bowling attack was led by Akash Ravindra Kumar, who claimed 4 wickets for 44 runs in his 10 overs, playing a crucial role in restricting Sitamarhi’s total. Kundan Shashi Verma and Suman Kumar Saurabh each took 2 wickets, while Arnav Naval Kishore chipped in with 1 wicket.
In response, Nalanda chased down the target of 228 runs in just 26.4 overs, losing only 3 wickets in the process. Arnav Naval Kishore was the star of the innings, delivering a match-winning knock of 160 runs off 85 balls, which included 15 fours and 12 sixes. Captain Veer Pratap Singh contributed 8 runs, while Naman Satyendra Gaurav added 14 runs. Munna Jitendra Kumar and Kunal Shashi Verma remained unbeaten on 25 and 8 runs respectively, guiding Nalanda to a comfortable victory.
For Sitamarhi, Vaibhav Vivek Mishra, Priyanshu Vinod Kumar, and Rajesh Kumar Jha each took 1 wicket, but their efforts were not enough to prevent Nalanda’s strong batting performance.
