Patna: Katihar advanced to the final of the BCA Men’s Senior One Day Trophy after defeating Nalanda by six wickets at the Moinul Haq Stadium in Patna on Monday.
Nalanda batted first, posting a total of 255 runs in 49.2 overs. Kundan Shashi Verma anchored their innings with an unbeaten 121 off 125 balls, including 13 fours and three sixes. Wicketkeeper-batsman Kush Anil Kumar contributed 44 runs from 58 deliveries, striking five boundaries, while Aditya Mahesh Kumar added 29 runs from 37 balls with four fours. Other batsmen chipped in with small contributions to set a competitive target.
For Katihar, Ayush Kumar was the standout bowler, claiming three wickets for 44 runs in his 10 overs. Harsh Nanda, Khalid Alam, and Peter Mardi maintained pressure on Nalanda’s batsmen, each taking two wickets.
In reply, Katihar chased down the target of 256 runs comfortably, finishing on 259 for four in 45.4 overs. Ankit Singh led the charge with a superb 134 off 146 balls, including 16 fours and a six. Ashwini Kumar provided strong support with a quickfire 42 from 35 deliveries, featuring six fours and a six, while Khalid Alam added 41 runs from 41 balls, hitting three fours and a six.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Abhishek Kumar scored 14, captain Suraj Kumar made 10, and Hazrat Ali remained unbeaten on eight.
For Nalanda, Arnav Aurobindo Kumar took two wickets, while Aditya Mahesh Kumar and Naman Satyendra Gaurav claimed one each.
