Patna: In the quarter-final match of the BCA Men’s Senior One Day Trophy held at Moinul Haq Stadium in Patna, Bhagalpur emerged victorious against Begusarai by 54 runs, securing their place in the semi-finals.
Batting first, Bhagalpur posted a total of 251 runs in 49.1 overs. Surya Raghuvanshi played a pivotal innings, scoring 70 runs off 53 balls, including five fours and four sixes. Rakeshndra Jagdish Rudra also contributed significantly with a half-century, scoring 50 runs off 70 balls, aided by seven fours. Captain Basukinath Yudhishthir Mishra added 33 runs to the tally, while Mayank Krishna Chaudhary (20), Amit Jaiprakash Kumar (22), and Sachin Dilip Kumar (19) made valuable contributions.
For Begusarai, Nishit Kamal Kumar was the standout bowler, claiming 3 wickets for 55 runs in his 10 overs. Prithvi Shobhit Raj and Atul Prakash each took two wickets, while Ayush Praveen Kumar, Abhishek Chandra Jha, and Aniket Subodh Jha chipped in with one wicket apiece.
In response, Begusarai were bowled out for 197 runs in 43.1 overs, falling short of the target. Atul Prakash top-scored for Begusarai with 61 runs off 80 balls, including three fours. Prithvi Shobhit Raj added 29 runs off 24 balls, featuring two fours and two sixes, while Nishit Kamal Kumar contributed 26 runs. Other notable scores included Murari Rajendra Kumar (4), Shivam Laldev Raj (10), Danish Qamar Alam (17), Gulshan Upendra Kumar (19), Yuvraj Ram Yadav (15), and Ayush Pranav (2), but their efforts were insufficient to secure a win.
Bhagalpur’s bowling attack was led by Sachin Dilip Kumar, who took 3 wickets for 26 runs in 8.1 overs. Abhishek and Surya claimed two wickets each, while Bhanu, Chandan, and Ankush took one wicket apiece.
With this victory, Bhagalpur advanced to the semi-finals, where they are set to face Katihar.
