Bihar enter quarterfinals of National Junior Softball

Patna: The 41st Junior National Softball Championship was formally inaugurated at Patliputra Sports Complex here on Thursday. In the first match, hosts Bihar defeated Jammu and Kashmir 11-3 in the boys category and made it to the last eight stages.

This championship, being organized under the aegis of Softball Association of Bihar, was inaugurated by the chief guest, Pankaj Raj, Director cum Secretary of Bihar State Sports Authority, amidst a colorful programme. On this occasion, BJP MLA Sanjeev Chaurasia, JDU MLC Lalan Saraf, Softball Association of India President Neetal Narang, General Secretary LR Maurya, Former Secretary Praveen Anokar, Treasurer Shrikant Thorot, Softball Association of Bihar President Gautam Kannodiya, General Secretary Prachi Sharma, were present as special guests. Chief Patron Ajay Narayan Sharma was also present.

All the guests were welcomed by all the officials of Softball Association of Bihar. Shailesh Kumar was in charge of the stage. Organizing Secretary cum Joint Secretary of Softball Association of Bihar, Rupak Kumar said that a total of 850 players and 40 officials from 23 states across the country are participating in this championship.

Results:
Boys: Rajasthan defeated Bihar 10-0, Jammu and Kashmir defeated Tamil Nadu 12-09, Telangana defeated Odisha 4-0, Madhya Pradesh defeated Karnataka 10-0, Chhattisgarh defeated Gujarat 10-0. By 0-0, Andhra Pradesh defeated Odisha 8-3.

Girls: Maharashtra defeated Pondicherry 10-0, Chandigarh defeated West Bengal 16-1 and Maharashtra defeated Tamil Nadu 10-0.
