Patna, May 5: The Bihar State Kabaddi Association conducted its general body meeting and elections for office-bearers on Sunday at a hotel in Patna. The election process was overseen by retired additional district and sessions judge Shashidhar Vishwakarma, assisted by Patna High Court advocate Akash Raj, Anandi Kumar (Assistant Director, Youth and Sports Department, Bihar Government), and Syed Imtiaz Hussain (Joint Secretary, Bihar Olympic Association).
The election marked a transition of leadership within the association, entrusting key roles to the younger generation. Apoorva Sukant was elected as the president, while Vipul Kumar Singh assumed the position of secretary, and Harishankar was appointed as the treasurer.
Former president Anjani Kumar Singh (Director General, Bihar Museum) and secretary Kumar Vijay Singh will continue to support the association in advisory roles.
Expressing his commitment, newly elected president Apoorva Sukant emphasized his dedication to the growth and promotion of Kabaddi in Bihar. He acknowledged the rapid progress of the sport in the state and pledged to sustain its momentum, aiming for higher achievements. Sukant highlighted Bihar’s success in national competitions and the representation of Bihar players in prestigious platforms like the Pro Kabaddi league and the Indian national camp.
Former Secretary Kumar Vijay Singh expressed confidence in the new leadership, affirming that the experienced officials would provide mentorship to guide the younger generation in advancing Kabaddi in Bihar.
