Shailendra Kumar Memorial Under-15 Cricket Tournament Trophy Unveiled in Patna

Patna: The trophy for the Shailendra Kumar Memorial Under-15 Inter-School Cricket Tournament was unveiled ahead of the event, which is set to take place in Patna from 2nd March. Organised in memory of the late senior sports journalist Shailendra Kumar, the tournament is being held under the banner of the Sardar Patel Sports Foundation, in collaboration with Casa Piccola Restaurant.

The unveiling ceremony took place at the local Casa Piccola Restaurant, where several dignitaries came together to mark the occasion. Among those present were Patna Municipal Corporation Empowered Committee member Indradeep Chandravanshi, member Ashish Sinha, Casa Piccola Restaurant MD Rajesh Kumar, former senior cricketer Saurabh Chakraborty, Sumit and Sharma Sports MD Sumit Sharma, and Organising Secretary Naveen Kumar.

Speaking at the event, Rajesh Kumar, MD of Casa Piccola Restaurant, shared his enthusiasm for the tournament. He emphasised that his company is not just focused on business but is also committed to contributing to social causes. “We are proud to sponsor this tournament, which not only honours the memory of Shailendra Kumar but also provides a platform for young cricketers to showcase their talent,” he said.

He went on to praise the Sardar Patel Sports Foundation for its efforts in nurturing emerging players through school cricket matches. “Shailendra Kumar, in whose memory this tournament is being held, was a passionate advocate for sports and worked tirelessly to promote players through his writings. It’s fitting that this event continues his legacy,” he added.

The tournament will be overseen by Naveen Kumar, General Secretary of the Sardar Patel Sports Foundation. A total of 24 teams will compete in the event, with all matches being played in a knockout format consisting of 25 overs per side.

Rajesh Kumar also highlighted the range of prizes up for grabs. Along with trophies for the winning and runner-up teams, individual awards such as Man of the Match, Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Best Wicketkeeper, and Man of the Tournament will be presented. “We want to ensure that the players feel recognised and motivated to excel,” he said.
