Begusarai: The inaugural match of the BCA Senior One Day Haymann Trophy (Central Zone), organised by the Bihar Cricket Association at the Barauni Fertiliser Ground in Begusarai, was played today between Samastipur and Supaul. Samastipur delivered an outstanding performance, securing a victory by 6 wickets.
Samastipur’s captain won the toss and opted to bowl first. Batting first, the Supaul team were bowled out for 155 runs in 44 overs. Vineet Anand top-scored with 36 runs, while Sadiq Raja contributed 30 runs for Supaul. Suman was the standout bowler for Samastipur, claiming 5 wickets, with Rahul Romald chipping in with 2 wickets.
In response, Samastipur chased down the target comfortably, scoring 159 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in just 23 overs. Mohammad Alam was the star of the innings, playing a magnificent knock of 106 runs, supported by Aditya Kumar, who scored 17 runs. For Supaul, Diwakar took 2 wickets, and Sadiq Raja claimed 1 wicket.
Mohammad Alam was awarded the “Man of the Match” for his exceptional performance. His unbeaten century proved pivotal in Samastipur’s victory.
With this win, Samastipur have made a strong start to the tournament, while Supaul will need to regroup and improve their performance in their next match.
