Shailendra Kumar Memorial Inter-School Under-15 Cricket Tournament Kicks Off in Style

Patna: The Shailendra Kumar Memorial Inter-School Cricket Tournament (Under-15), organised under the auspices of the Sardar Patel Sports Foundation, commenced with great enthusiasm at the Krishna Cricket Ground in Khemnichak. The opening day, held on 2nd March, saw impressive performances from BPCA Red and Sardar Patel Cricket Academy, both securing victories in their respective matches.

BPCA Red triumphed over Shriram Khel Maidan by 16 runs, while Sardar Patel Cricket Academy edged out Goal Cricket Academy by a narrow margin of 3 runs.

The tournament was inaugurated by a host of dignitaries, including Patna District RJD President and former MLA Dinanath Yadav, BJP State Spokesperson Anamika Paswan, Hum Secular Kisan Prakoshtha State President Rajiv Ranjan Bablu, RJD Patna Metropolitan Media Incharge Arun Kumar Singh, Hum Secular Kisan Prakoshtha State Vice President Viru Kumar Singh, Dr. Rajiv Kumar (Anuj), and Mukhiya Anjani Kumar. The dignitaries introduced themselves to the players before the formal proceedings began. The foundation’s General Secretary, Naveen Kumar, welcomed the guests by presenting them with shawls, bouquets, and mementoes. The event was compered by commentator Mrityunjay Jha, and the foundation’s founder, Santosh Tiwari, delivered the vote of thanks.

First Match: BPCA Red vs Shriram Khel Maidan

BPCA Red won the toss and opted to bat first, posting a competitive total of 186 runs for 8 wickets in their allotted 25 overs. Deep Yadav top-scored with a splendid 71, supported by Keshav Singh’s 51. For Shriram Khel Maidan, Rudransh Kumar claimed 4 wickets, while Himanshu took 3.

In response, Shriram Khel Maidan managed 170 runs for 5 wickets in their 25 overs, falling short by 16 runs. Ayush Kumar contributed 38 runs, but it wasn’t enough to secure victory. Keshav Krish of BPCA Red was named Player of the Match for his all-round performance, taking 2 wickets.

Second Match: Sardar Patel Cricket Academy vs Goal Cricket Academy

Goal Cricket Academy won the toss and elected to field first. Sardar Patel Cricket Academy were bowled out for 144 runs in 17.5 overs, with Shan Goswami scoring 41 and Neeraj Kumar adding 32. Agastya was the standout bowler for Goal Cricket Academy, taking 4 wickets.

Chasing 145 runs, Goal Cricket Academy were dismissed for 141 in 20 overs, falling just 3 runs short of the target. Shan Goswami of Sardar Patel Cricket Academy was awarded Player of the Match for his crucial 41 runs and 2 wickets.
