Bhagalpur: The RD&DJ College one of the premier colleges of Munger University celebrated 126th foundation day today. A foundation day function was organized in college to mark the occasion. The glorious history of college was remembered by students, teachers and dignitaries present at foundation day function.
Presiding over the foundation day function principal Prof Prabhat Kumar underlined achievements of the college. He remembered stalwarts of the country namely Dr Rajendra Prasad, Dr Zakir Hussein, Sri Krishna Singh, Karpoori Thakur, Ram Manohar Lohia beside others who had shown deep interest in development of college, speaking on the occasion.
The principal also remembered Acharya Kapil who had significantly contributed in development of college. He thanked teaching and non-teaching staff for their sincere cooperation in development of college. In a special mention Prof Kumar referred to devotion, dedication and efficiency of Dr Prbahakar Poddar, NCC, in-charge of college.
Earlier a traditional lamp was lighted jointly by Vinay Kumar, a director general rank police official of state and Prof Shyama Roy, Vice-Chancellor of Munger University respectively chief guest and guest of honour at foundation day function. The other dignitaries present on dais joined them in lighting traditional lamp.
At the onset student members of cultural council of college presented Kulgeet of college. The girl student members of cultural council led by Dr Nilayshree presented welcome song followed by Kulgeet.
In his address chief guest Vinay Kumar said glorious history of RD&DJ college suggests the college has always remained a center of knowledge and excellence. He urged students present on the occasion to do their best for gaining knowledge and inculcating values. Expressing good wishes for further all-round development of college he greeted students and teachers of college, in course of his speech.
Prof Shyama Roy, VC, guest of honour, in her address said celebration of 126th foundation day is definitely a major achievement for any college. Of the opinion celebration of long years of foundation by RD&DJ College is proud moment for entire university, she extended her good wishes to students and college staff.
Regarding newly founded Munger University VC said despite difficulties university has succeeded in registering progress in different fields. She asked principal of the college to form alumni group of college and to do needful for organizing alumni meet. The VC also suggested for organizing annual day both at university and college levels.
Earlier letter of greetings sent by Chancellor Rajendra Viswanath Arlekar to the principal of college was read out at foundation day function. The speakers at foundation day function included Col Vijay Kumar Thakur, registrar of university, also guest of honour.
The teachers present on the occasion included Prof Ranjana Singh, Prof Manju Gupta, Prof Viswajeet, Prof Vidya Kumar Choudhury beside others. Vote of thanks was proposed on the occasion by Prof Sanjay Kumar, proctor of university.
