Patna: Randhir Verma Memorial Under-15 Cricket Championship Trophy was unveiled in Patna on Thursday by Neeraj Kumar Verma, General Manager, SIS Group. The tournament is being organised by Randhir Verma Foundation.
Speaking on the occasion, Neeraj Kumar Verna said that it is a commendable work to organise such an event on the death anniversary of one of the most successful IPS officers of Bihar Randhir Verma. Randhir Verma Foundation always works in the interest of the society, he said.
Satish Raju, Secretary of Randhir Verma Foundation, said that Randhir Verma was a pro-active Superintendent of Police of Bihar, who sacrificed his life in eradicating crime from the society. He was posthumously awarded the Ashok Chakra and a postage stamp was issued in his memory in 2004. To pay tribute to him, Randhir Verma Foundation has been organising various games every year in his memory.
He said the 7-day-long tournament will be inaugurated on January 9 at Sanjay Gandhi Stadium. A total of 16 teams from different districts of Bihar will participate in the tournament, he said.
Mukesh Paswan, Manisha, Rajiv Ranjan Yadav, Anand Sinha, Vikas Singh, Sumit Jha, Anil Paswan, Sukhlal Mardi, Sanjeev Kumar, Ranjit Kumar etc were present on the occasion.
