Patna: Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Veer Kunwar Singh won their respective matches in the Dayanand Singh Memorial Women’s State Cricket Tournament at Jagjivan Stadium, Khagaul on Wednesday. Shaheed Bhagat Singh defeated Batukeshwar Dutt by 8 wickets while Veer Kunwar Singh crushed Rajendra Prasad XI by 7 wickets.
The final match of the tournament will be played between Sardar Patel and Veer Kunwar Singh on Thursday.
After winning the toss, Shaheed Bhagat Singh invited Batukeshwar Dutt to bat. Batters of Batukeshwar Dutt team did not perform well against Bhagat Singh bowlers. They scored 94 runs losing 8 wickets in the stipulated 21 overs. Sharda Thakur remained unbeaten and scored the highest 30 runs for Batukeshwar.
In reply, Bhagat Singh achieved the target in 16 overs at the loss of two wickets. Nikki, who had shown her magic in bowling, ensured the team’s victory by scoring a half-century in 45 balls while batting and she was adjudged the Player of the Match.
In the second match of the day, Rajendra Prasad XI won the toss and batted first and scored 118 runs in the stipulated 21 overs by losing seven wickets. In reply, Veer Kunwar Singh won the match by scoring 120 runs in 16.1 overs by losing three wickets. Winning team’s player Annaya Singh was selected as the Player of the Match.
