Patna: Sardar Patel XI and Veer Kunwar Singh emerged victorious in their respective matches on Monday at the Dayanand Singh Memorial Women’s State Cricket Tournament, held at Jagjivan Stadium in Khagaul. Sardar Patel XI secured a 43-run win over Batukeshwar Dutt’s team, while Veer Kunwar Singh claimed a nine-wicket victory in the day’s second fixture.
First Match
Sardar Patel XI won the toss and opted to bat first. A stellar 85 from opener Christina, coupled with Ruchi Pathak’s unbeaten 51, propelled their side to a total of 174 for three in 21 overs. In response, Batukeshwar Dutt’s batters struggled against Nandini’s bowling attack, managing only 131 for nine in their allotted overs. Nandini, named Player of the Match, delivered a standout performance, taking five wickets for just 17 runs in five overs.
Second Match
Mahatma Gandhi, winning the toss, batted first but posted a modest 99 for six in 21 overs. Chasing a target of 100, Veer Kunwar Singh dominated, reaching 103 for one in just 11 overs, thanks to Yashita Singh’s unbeaten 61 and Annaya Tiwari’s 40 not out. Yashita was awarded Player of the Match for her match-winning innings.
