Railway Ticket Sale Registers Encouraging High During On-Going Shrawani Mela

Bhagalpur: For railways the window sale of tickets has registered encouraging high during ongoing Shrawani Mela at Jasidih, Baidyanath Dham, Deoghar and Basukinath stations of eastern railway.

With large number of pilgrims from all over the country visiting Biadyanath Dham and Basukinath temples located in Santhal Pargana division of Jharkhand in current month of Shrawan for paying their obesience to lord Shiva, the window sale of railway tickets has increased manifold at railway stations in the area.

As per information provided by Public Relation Officer (PRO), eastern railway total 36328 passengers purchased journey tickets alone on August 20 the 19th day of ongoing Shrawani Mela, taking together railway station at famous pilgrim centre besides railway stations located in adjoining areas.

The gross revenue earning from sale of tickets at Jasidih, Baidyanath Dham, Deoghar and Bauskinath stations on 19th day of Shrawan was Rs 32,31,540. Up to 19th day of Shrawan total 634210 journey tickets amounting to Rs 5,09,14,450 were sold taking together all the aforesaid stations.

With pilgrims mostly preferring trains for safe and quick journey the sale figure of railway tickets has increased sharply in current month of Shrawan, as per PRO.

He said elaborate arrangements keeping in view convenience of pilgrims such as “May I Help You Booth” beside additional booking counters have been opened at railway stations for Shrawani Mela at stations in pilgrim route.

Further provisions of additional pilgrim shelters have been made in circulating areas in railway stations and adequate drinking water facilities have been created for Shrawani Mela the PRO informed.

He added there is special attention on cleanliness and sanitation at stations falling in pilgrim route. He further said officers and supervisors have been entrusted responsibility of monitoring convenience and comfort of pilgrims.
