Patna, July 30: Patna District Senior Masters Badminton Championship began at Patliputra Sports Complex here. The championship is being held under the aegis of Patna District Badminton Association. The championship was inaugurated by Raveendran Sankaran, director general of Sports Development Authority of Bihar (SDAB). Upendra Kumar Sinha, chairman, Patna District Badminton Association welcomed the guests while the convener Sandeep Kumar proposed a vote of thanks.
Pankaj Kumar Raj, director cum secretary of Sports Development Authority of Bihar, managing director of North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited Prabhakar, IAS Gopal Meena, IPS Arvind Thakur, former MLA Surendra Kumar Chandra, CMM of East Central Railway Ravindra Prasad, senior player S N Kahn and many others were present at the opening function.
Results: Singles: 55 Plus: Pratyush Indavar beat Raju Kumar. 35 Plus: Syed Saiful defeated Omprakash. 60 Plus: Indrapal Verma beat Ramesh Dhariwal; 40 Plus: Rajeev Ranjan beat Jayant Kumar.
Doubles: 45 Plus: Sudhanshu Shekhar and Prabhakar lost to Sanjeev Kumar and Suraj Prakash.
40 Plus Rajesh Kumar and Ashok Prasad defeated Atma Prasad and Gopal Meena.
35 Plus: Ravindra Prasad and Saket Bhagaria defeated Avinash Kumar and Syed Saiful.
45 Plus: SK Chandra and Shafaq Nawab defeated DP Singh and Rajeev Ranjan.
