Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for developmental schemes worth ₹109 crore during his Pragati Yatra in Siwan district. He remotely inaugurated 122 schemes costing ₹83.47 crore and laid the foundation stone for five projects amounting to ₹25.38 crore.
During the visit, the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inspected the site of the proposed Siwan Bypass in Narayanpur village, Pachrukhi block. The bypass, spanning 13.8 km, aims to alleviate traffic congestion. The Chief Minister instructed officials to expedite work on the project, which includes widening, strengthening, and building a railway overbridge (ROB).
In Hussainganj block, the Chief Minister visited Karhanu village, inspecting a pond beautified under the Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Abhiyan. He released fish seeds and directed officials to construct stepped ghats for public convenience. Praising the tree plantation around the pond, he emphasised the importance of beautifying public water bodies under the campaign launched in 2019.
The Chief Minister also inspected the Anganwadi Centre and the Additional Primary Health Centre in Karhanu, where he reviewed facilities such as the OPD and telemedicine services. He highlighted the government’s efforts to provide free medicines since 2006 and significant improvements in the healthcare sector since 2005.
At the Upgraded Middle School Karhanu, the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated a public playground built under MNREGA at a cost of ₹8.74 lakh. He also inaugurated the MNREGA Haat at Karhanu Bazaar, constructed for ₹7.18 lakh, and interacted with Jeevika Didi self-help groups (SHGs).
During a dialogue programme with Jeevika Didi members, the Chief Minister listened to their experiences. The women credited SHGs for empowering them socially and economically. Nitish Kumar announced that the number of SHGs has reached 10.61 lakh, with 1.31 crore women engaged across Bihar.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated a ₹701 crore widening and strengthening project for the Chhapra-Manjhi-Darouli-Guthni route, covering 72.183 km. He inspected ongoing work for the Siwan-Andar Path (16.25 km).
On this occasion, senior ministers, MPs, and local officials joined the Chief Minister. Nitish Kumar concluded the day by planting a sapling at a newly inaugurated Government Backward Class Girls Residential Plus Two High School in Bhaisakhal, Jiradei block, demonstrating his commitment to education and environmental conservation.
