Opposition Lambasts Bihar Government Over Rising Crime and Governance Failures

By Vishwapati
Patna: As the 10th day of proceedings in both houses of the Bihar Legislature commenced today, the opposition launched a scathing attack on the government’s poor administrative performance. The opposition sought to corner the government both inside and outside the House, highlighting the escalating crime rates in the state as a key issue.

Prior to the start of the Assembly and Legislative Council sessions, opposition members staged a protest outside the House, branding the Bihar government as a failure. Led by opposition leader Rabri Devi, members of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) gathered outside the main gate of the Legislative Council, holding banners and posters and chanting slogans against the government. They accused the administration of completely failing to address the issue of crime in the state.

Rabri Devi, the opposition leader in the Legislative Council, pointed out that 22 people had been murdered across Bihar during the Holi festival. She questioned, “If 22 people can be murdered in just two days, one can only imagine how many lives are being lost every month in Bihar.” She further criticised the government’s claims of good governance, asking, “Where is this so-called good governance? Young girls are being raped and murdered. When even sub-inspectors and constables are being killed, it is clear what the condition of the common people must be. If those entrusted with maintaining security are being targeted, only God can save the ordinary citizens.”

Rabri Devi also took a swipe at the government, comparing the current administration to previous regimes. She remarked, “Earlier, we had Jungle Raj, but now we have Mangalraj. In Jungle Raj, sub-inspectors and constables were not killed, but under Mangalraj, even they are not safe. If this is the state of affairs under a government that claims to deliver good governance, why are such horrific incidents occurring?”
