Mairwa: The 14th Hockey Bihar Sub Junior Boys State Championship, held from 5 to 9 September 2024 at the Adarsh Government Middle School ground in Mairwa block, Siwan district, concluded with a spectacular closing ceremony on September 9. Muzaffarpur emerged victorious, securing the title with a decisive 6-0 win over Saharsa in the final match.
Amarendra Kumar Singh was instrumental in Muzaffarpur’s triumph, scoring four goals in the 5th, 20th, 35th, and 38th minutes. Chhotu Kumar added a goal in the 21st minute, and Sonu Kumar completed the tally with a goal in the 54th minute.
Sanjay Pathak, Secretary of Hockey Siwan, remarked that the championship would encourage more boys and girls in rural areas to take up hockey. The trophy was awarded to Muzaffarpur by Dr Sharad Chaudhary, Secretary of IMA Siwan. Saharsa received their runner-up trophy from Mohammad Farid, President of Hockey Siwan, and Vice President Dharmanath Yadav.
Amarendra Kumar Singh also received the Man of the Match and Man of the Tournament awards for his exceptional performance throughout the championship.
The event was attended by Gyan Prakash Pathak, Principal of Hariram Higher Secondary School; Sanjay Prajapati, Physical Teacher; Prabhat Kumar, NCC Officer; Surendra Kumar; Anil Kumar; Ganga Prasad; Mohammad Rafiq Ansari, Headmaster of Adarsh Government Middle School; Salma Khatoon, Treasurer of Hockey Siwan; and Vivek Kumar Singh, Executive Member, along with numerous sports enthusiasts and spectators.
