Katihar: Bihar Red team wins women’s exhibition cricket match

Katihar: To encourage girls to play cricket, the Katihar District Cricket Association and Friends Cricket Academy organized an invitational game today between the women’s cricket teams of Bihar Blue and Bihar Red at Rajendra Stadium in the city. District chief coach Manish Singh and Friends Cricket Academy Secretary Sanjeev Singh officially opened the game.

Both the teams were equipped with state level players. Bihar Red captain Bhagyashree won the toss of this match and decided to bat first. The match was played for the stipulated 20 overs. Batting first, Bihar Red team scored 116 runs losing 9 wickets in 20 overs with the help of Vishalakshi’s 40 runs on 43 balls and Kriti Kumari’s 20 runs on 28 balls. For Bihar Blue, Chhoti Kumari took 3 wickets and Nivedita Bharti took 2 wickets.

In reply, Bihar Red team won the title of this Invitation Cup by defeating Bihar Blue by 6 wickets, thanks to Harshita Bhardwaj’s unbeaten 44 runs on 35 balls and Soni Thakur’s 37 runs on 40 balls. Bowling for Bihar Blue, Sagarika Kumari bowled brilliantly and took 2 wickets for 10 runs in 4 overs and Aanchal Kumari took 1 wicket.

The role of umpire in the match was played by Deepak Jaiswal and Gautam Thakur while the scorers were Raj Aryan Yadav and Priyanshu.

After the end of the match, Friends Academy President, former Ward Councilor Arun Yadav, Secretary Sanjeev Singh and Coach Badre Khan gave away the prizes.
