Patna: On the fourth day of the 68th Junior National Ball Badminton Championship being organised by the Bihar Ball Badminton Association at Patliputra Sports Complex here, Bihar entered the semi-finals by defeating the pair of Maharashtra and Karnataka in the doubles event of the boys category.

In the doubles match of the girls category, Bihar defeated Rajasthan and Kerala, entered the semi-finals and was assured of a medal. In the boys’ fives competition, teams from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Karnataka entered the semi-finals and in the girls’ category, teams from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and Karnataka entered the semi-finals.

Earlier, in the quarter-final match of the boys category of the fives event, Andhra Pradesh defeated Telangana 35-28,35-23, Tamil Nadu defeated Bihar 35-24,35-23, Maharashtra defeated Puducherry 35-24, 35-26, Karnataka defeated Kerala 35-25,35-31. In the quarter-final match of the girls category, Tamil Nadu defeated Maharashtra 35-16, 35-25, Andhra Pradesh defeated Rajasthan 35-24,35-12, Kerala defeated Chhattisgarh 35-32, 35-25 and Karnataka defeated Bihar 35-27, 35-32.

Junior National Ball Badminton

After getting introduced to the players, Dr. Mridula Prakash, Secretary of the Mahila Charkha Committee, and President of Bihar Vidyapeeth Vijay Prakash (retired IAS) inaugurated today’s game. The officials of the Ball Badminton Federation of India, technical officials, judges and secretaries of various states were felicitated.

Ball Badminton Federation of India President-cum-Bihar Legislative Council member Prof. Nawal Kishore Yadav, noted educationist Guru Rehman, and Bihar Ball Badminton Association director Pawan Kumar Kejriwal felicitated the officials. Gouri Shankar, Secretary of Bihar Ball Badminton Association, welcomed the guests, while Patna District Secretary Dr. Arun Dayal proposed a vote of thanks.

Tomorrow at 1 pm, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha and special guest Padmashree Vimal Jain will distribute prizes among the players after the final matches.
Meanwhile, Guru Rahman, the special guest of today’s award distribution, was nominated as the Chairman of the Advisory Committee of the Bihar Ball Badminton Association by the President of the Bihar Ball Badminton Association, Prof. Nawal Kishore Yadav.
