Gopalganj Beat Patna by 4 Wickets to Enter Semi-Final of BCA Men’s Senior One Day Trophy

Patna: In the first quarter-final match of the BCA Men’s Senior One Day Trophy Tournament held at Moinul Haq Stadium in Patna, Gopalganj emerged victorious against Patna by 4 wickets, securing their place in the semi-finals. A standout century by Gopalganj batsman Vikas Chaudhary played a pivotal role in steering his team to victory.

Patna, batting first, posted a competitive total of 282 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 50 overs. Ashish Kumar was the star performer for Patna, scoring a splendid 113 runs off 138 balls, including 15 fours and 1 six. Akash Raj contributed a quickfire 40 runs from just 22 balls, featuring 4 fours and 2 sixes, while Piyush Kumar Singh added 35 runs with 5 fours in 51 balls. The rest of the batting lineup chipped in to help Patna reach their total.

Gopalganj’s bowlers put in a disciplined effort to restrict Patna. Sachin Kumar Singh was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 4 wickets for 56 runs in his 10 overs. Mehndi Abdullah also impressed, taking 3 wickets for 40 runs in 10 overs, including 1 maiden. Amod Yadav supported well with 2 wickets, ensuring Patna did not post an even larger total.

In response, Gopalganj chased down the target of 283 runs in 46.5 overs, finishing at 283 for 6. Vikas Chaudhary was the hero of the chase, smashing a magnificent 130 runs off just 103 balls, including 12 fours and 8 sixes. Aryan Raj provided valuable support with a steady 50 runs off 79 balls, featuring 4 fours, while Prashant Kumar remained unbeaten on 33 runs from 33 balls, hitting 2 fours. The rest of the batsmen contributed effectively to ensure their team crossed the line.

For Patna, Suraj Kumar Kashyap was the most successful bowler, taking 3 wickets for 46 runs in 10 overs. Captain Vivek Kumar and Abhinav Singh claimed 1 wicket each, but their efforts were not enough to prevent Gopalganj from clinching the win and advancing to the semi-finals.

Gopalganj’s composed batting performance, led by Chaudhary’s century, ensured a well-deserved victory and a place in the next round of the tournament.
