Patna, August 1: The Economic Offence Unit (EOU) of Bihar Police on Sunday raided five residential and office premises linked to an executive engineer-cum-resident engineer of building construction department in connection with disproportionate assets.
The raids were conducted simultaneously in Patna and New Delhi following complaints that the engineer, Firoz Alam, had amassed assets worth Rs 2.61 crore by corrupt means, EOU officials said. This amount was 91.08% more than Alam’s known source of income, the officials added.
Alam is currently posted at Bihar Sadan in New Delhi.

EOU officials said simultaneous searches were conducted at Alam’s Sukhdev Vihar house and two flats one each at Johri Farm and Shaheen Bagh—in New Delhi and his brother Zahiruddin Alam’s flat in Daniel Manson at Samanpura in Patna, besides his Bihar Sadan office at Dwarka in the national capital.
“During the raid Rs 143 lakh in cash and 34 gold ornaments were found from Alam’s Sukhdev Vihar house. Land deeds, bank passbooks and some documents related to investments have also been recovered. They are being verified,” they said.
“The EOU lodged a case against Firoz Alam for having acquired 91.08% assets of disproportions, under the sections of 13 (2), 13 (1) b of the Prevention of corruption Act, 1988 with amendment Act 2018. The raids were conducted after the EOU officer procured a search warrant from the court against him,” the officials added.
