Bodh Gaya Festival 2025 Showcases Bihar’s Rich Heritage on the Global Stage

Bodh Gaya, Bihar: The much-anticipated Bodh Gaya Festival 2025 was inaugurated with grandeur at the Kalachakra Ground in Bodh Gaya, celebrating Bihar’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage. The event witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including Bihar Tourism Minister Nitish Mishra, Cooperative Minister Dr. Prem Kumar, MLA Manju Agarwal, District Council President Naina Devi, Vice President Sheetal Prasad Yadav, Deputy Mayor Chinta Devi, Magadh Divisional Commissioner Prem Singh Meena, IG Kshatranil Singh, and District Magistrate Dr. Tyagarajan SM.

Speaking on the occasion, Tourism Minister Nitish Mishra expressed his privilege in attending the Buddhist Festival for the first time. He highlighted Bodh Gaya’s immense significance not only as a centre of spirituality but also as a hub for tourism and industry. He reiterated that efforts are underway to transform Bihar into a major national and international tourist destination, capitalising on its vast potential in eco-tourism and religious tourism.

Bihar’s Tourism and Infrastructure Development

Mishra emphasized that the Bihar government is actively working towards preserving and promoting the state’s historical and religious heritage. He noted that tourism contributes 6.5% to the national economy, and Bihar is poised to play a larger role in this sector.

To enhance accessibility, the Gaya Airport is being expanded to accommodate more tourists. Additionally, Bihar’s largest industrial area is under construction in Dobhi, and new corridors in Vishnupad and Bodh Gaya are being developed to provide world-class amenities to pilgrims and visitors. The minister also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting Bihar’s cultural identity on global platforms to attract international tourists.

Quoting a popular sentiment, he said, “Whoever visits Bodh Gaya once, carries Bodh Gaya in their heart forever.” He urged locals to embrace the spirit of Atithi Devo Bhava’ (Guest is God) and welcome visitors warmly.

Cultural Extravaganza Mesmerises the Audience

The festival’s inauguration featured a spectacular display of cultural performances by artists from India and abroad, captivating the audience with their music, dance, and traditional artistry. One of the most applauded performances was the Bihar Gaurav Gaan, where the song Bangla Mein Udela Gulaal resonated with the crowd, drawing thunderous applause.

Artists from Indonesia, Laos, Japan, and other countries also enthralled spectators with their vibrant cultural presentations. Their performances transformed the event into an unforgettable journey of music and dance, celebrating the spiritual and artistic heritage of Lord Buddha’s land.

Bodhgaya Festival: A Platform for Global Cultural Exchange

Tourism Minister Nitish Mishra reiterated that the Bodh Gaya Festival is not just a cultural celebration but a powerful medium for presenting Bihar’s civilization and heritage to the world. He stressed the importance of spreading Lord Buddha’s message of peace and wisdom and assured that under the leadership of the Chief Minister and the Prime Minister, Bihar is committed to achieving the vision of ‘Developed India – Developed Bihar.

With ambitious initiatives in place, Bihar is set to emerge as a leading global tourist destination, showcasing its unique blend of history, spirituality, and cultural vibrancy.
