Patna: The well-known sports administrator of Patna and Bihar, SN Sharma passed away on Wednesday after a prolonged illness. On Thursday, his last rites took place at Bans Ghat in Patna at 9 am. He was 84 years old. He was known as the best sports administrator in Bihar, especially in Patna. He left behind a daughter. His wife died a long time ago. The passing of SN Sharma has saddened the entire sports world, including Bihar football.
Shyam Nandan Sharma (SN Sharma) was associated with football and other sports from 1970 to 2004-05. He held the post of Joint Secretary of the Patna Athletic Association (PAA) (later Patna Football Association) for a long time. During his tenure, the Patna Football League became famous throughout the country. He worked for football with the late secretary of the Bihar and Patna Football Association, Syed Ejaz Hussain, for a long time.
In football, he had his own team, Patna United, from which many players served the state, and some presented their claims for other states and Junior India. Patna United Club was very famous, and the big teams of that time were afraid of it. Later, he disbanded this team, and Patna football is still feeling its absence. SN Sharma was also the president of the Bihar State Carrom Association. Because of him, this game got a chance to flourish in Bihar, and many players emerging from it represented the Indian team.
The Bihar football world has described SN Sharma’s demise as an irreparable loss. On his demise, Bihar Football Association President Prasannajit Mehta, Secretary Syed Imtiaz Hussain, Patna Football Association Chairman cum former Minister Samir Kumar Mahaseth, President Ram Ishwar Prasad alias Sadhu Gop, Secretary Manoj Kumar, Treasurer Rajendra Prasad, Former Secretary Jwala Prasad Sinha, Former international cricket umpire LP Verma, Raj Milk Football Club’s Vidya Bhushan Singh, Satyendra Singh, former Santosh Trophy player Sunil Kumar, HRO head Satyendra Kumar, Bihar team coach Santosh Kumar, officials and players of Bihar Football Association and Patna Football Association condoled his demise. They prayed to God for the peace of his departed soul.
