Bihar Shuttlers Shine at Yonex Sunrise Sub-Junior National Badminton Championship

Patna: Young badminton players of Bihar performed remarkably at the Yonex Sunrise Sub-Junior (U-15/17) National Badminton Championship in Chennai on Sunday, advancing to higher rounds in their respective categories.

In the boys’ U-15 singles category, Md Ashadullah of Bihar defeated Shane D’Souza of Goa in straight sets, 21-11, 21-15, to reach the third round.

In the girls’ U-15 singles, Soumya Bharti showcased her skills in a thrilling first-round match, coming back from a set down to beat Anu Laa of Arunachal Pradesh 21-23, 21-10, 21-14. In the second round, she continued her winning streak by defeating Lakshmita G of Andaman and Nicobar comfortably, 21-8, 21-4, to progress to the third round.

Bihar’s performance continued in the boys’ U-17 singles. Saksham Vats triumphed over Abhinav Kandari of Uttarakhand with a 21-10, 21-14 win in the first round. In the second round, he repeated the scoreline, defeating Partha Gawai of Haryana 21-10, 21-14, and moving into the third round.

In the girls’ U-17 singles, Bihar’s Srija dominated her second-round match, beating Anvi Patel of Gujarat 21-9, 21-14 to move into the third round. Later, in a hard-fought third-round match, Srija overcame Jessica from Arunachal Pradesh with a 21-13, 11-21, 21-13 victory to advance to the pre-quarterfinals.

The young players from Bihar are continuing to make a mark with their strong performances in this prestigious national tournament.
