Bihar Reaches Final Stage in Teacher Appointments; 66,000 Teachers to Receive Appointment Letters on March 9

By Vishwapati
Patna: The teacher appointment process in Bihar has reached its concluding phase, with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar set to distribute appointment letters to 66,000 teachers on March 9. The main ceremony will take place at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, where 10,000 candidates will attend. Of these, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will personally present appointment letters to 10,739 teachers at Gandhi Maidan. The remaining teachers will receive their appointment letters at ceremonies held in other district headquarters. The Education Department has directed all District Magistrates to make necessary preparations for the appointment letter distribution events.

Candidates from Patna, Vaishali, Muzaffarpur, Saran, Bhojpur, Arwal, Jehanabad, and Nalanda will participate in the programme organised in Patna. Meanwhile, appointment letter distribution ceremonies will be conducted at the local level in the remaining 30 districts. The counselling process for teachers selected under the third phase (TRE 3.0) of the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) teacher recruitment drive has been completed. Upon receiving their appointment letters, the teachers will undergo training before they begin contributing to their respective schools.

It is worth noting that the BPSC conducted the TRE 3.0 examination between July 19 and July 22, 2024. However, the exam was cancelled due to a paper leak and was subsequently re-conducted with full transparency. The results were announced in November 2024, followed by the completion of the counselling process.

According to the Education Department, the distribution of appointment letters on 9 March will include the following breakdown:

Primary schools: 21,911 teachers

Middle schools: 16,989 teachers

Secondary schools: 15,250 teachers

Higher secondary schools: 12,195 teachers

This marks a significant milestone in Bihar’s efforts to strengthen its education system by recruiting qualified teachers across various levels of schooling.
