Bhagalpur: The murder of a lady constable, her kids and mother-in-law beside suicide of her husband continues to remain shrouded in mystery. Though investigation of the incident by Special Investigating Team (SIT) of Bhagalpur police is in progress however as per information SIT is yet to register any substantial headway in unraveling the mystery.
It may be mentioned Nitu Kumari, the lady constable, her minor daughter and son beside her mother-in-law were found murdered in her quarter located in police line here on Tuesday morning this week. The husband of lady constable Pankaj Kumar suspected to have committed suicide was found hanging in the quarter.
Prima facie from circumstantial evidences, it was doubted Kumar suspicious about infidelity of his wife murdered her beside his children and mother before committing suicide. However, suicide note of Kumar recovered by police from place of incident tells a different story.
A local senior police authority has been quoted saying Kumar in his suicide note has mentioned that his children and mother were murdered by his wife. In the suicide note he had also stated about extramarital affair of his wife.
Officially nothing has come yet regarding how the tragic murder incident in which five lives were lost had occurred. However based on suicide note it is assumed Kumar subsequently murdered his wife and hanged himself after his children and mother were murdered by his wife.
With number of missing links concerning what exactly happened in quarter of lady constable on the night of incident, nothing can be said convincingly at the moment. It had been found for murdering Nitu Kumari, her kids and mother-in-law their throats were slit with sharp edged weapon.
A knife and a brick have been recovered by police from place occurrence. Interestingly the residents of quarters adjoining quarter of lady constable had no inkling about the bloody incident till next morning.
People residing in neighbourhood could know about the incident only when entry door of the quarter was forcibly opened after milkman knocked the door and there was no response from inside.
Meanwhile a male constable with whom the lady constable was allegedly close have been picked up for interrogation. Pankaj Kumar it is said was suspicious about extramarital affair of his wife with said male constable. Nitu Kumari and her husband Pankaj Kumar used to work in a shopping mall prior to her selection as constable.
Love between them led to their marriage after Nitu Kumari joined as constable. Pankaj Kumar was unemployed at present. It is said their marital relation soared of late with entry of a third person in their lives.
Neighbourhood people have confirmed owing to marital discord the couple often quarreled openly. In the meantime, maternal uncle of lady constable arrived here last night after which dead bodies were sent for postmortem.
