Bhagalpur: In a tragic incident last night husband of a lady constable suspectedly killed his wife, two children and his mother before he himself committed suicide. Total five dead bodies were recovered this morning from quarter of lady constable located in Bhagalpur police line.
The lady constable identified as Nitu Kumari posted at SP office used to reside in police line quarter with her husband, minor daughter and son beside mother-in-law.
Form suicide note of Pankaj Kumar recovered from place of incident, it is suspected suspicious about infidelity of his wife, he killed her apart from his children and mother. For killing Nitu Kumari her children and mother -in-law their throats were slit by sharp edged weapon.
With body of Pankaj Kumar found hanging in the quarter, it is suspected he committed suicide after killing other family members. A knife and suicide note written by husband of lady constable has been recovered from the place of the incident. The place of incident was inspected by senior police officials, FSL team and dog squad.
As per information residents of adjoining quarters became suspicious about something wrong when they didn’t see any of the family members of lady constable outside till late in the morning. The dead bodies of family members were found after entry door of the quarter was broken on information of the neighbours.
DIG, Bhagalpur Range, Vivekanand who visited the place of incident said as per information all was not well between the couple. There are reports about martial discord of couple leading to open quarrel between them, he added. DIG confirmed in suicide note husband of lady constable had mentioned about extra marital affair of his wife.
Nitu Kumari a 2015 batch constable was resident of Buxar district while her husband Pankaj Kumar was native of Ara district. As per information both used to work in a shopping mall prior to selection of Nitu as lady constable.
Love between Pankaj and Nitu led to marriage after later was appointed as lady constable. Nitu initially posted at Naugachia, subsequently in 2022 joined Bhagalpur district police force. Meanwhile a special investigating team headed by Shri Raj, City SP has been constituted for further investigation of the incident.
