Patna: A 79-run unbroken partnership between captain Akash Raj ( 74 not out) and A Anand (32 not out) for the seventh wicket guided Bihar to 165 for 6 in their first innings at the end of second day’s play in their Col CK Nayudu Trophy multi-day match against Goa at the Moinul Haq Stadium here on Monday.
At one stage Bihar were reeling at for 86 for six after resuming the day at 21 for one. The play could not possible in the first session of the day due to bad light and when the play started Goa bowlers dominated the proceedings. Bihar skipper Akash Raj defied the Goa attack displaying some good strokes all-round the ground. His unbeaten knock of 74 contained 9 boundaries and it came off 121 balls. A Anand joined his skipper after the fall of 6th wicket. But right from the starting, he showed his prowess to build the innings. His unbeaten 32 came off 51 balls with three fours and one six. The seventh wicket unbroken partnership of 79 runs came off 107 balls.
For Goa Heramb Parab and Deep Kasvankar took two wickets each giving away 27 and 40 runs respectively. Bihar still need 102 runs to overtake Goa’s first innings score of 267.
