Bhagalpur: In an operation undertaken against maoist in area under Ladiyatand PS of Munger district on Wednesday this week two powerful Improvised Explosives Devices (IED’s) were recovered by joint team consisting members of district police force and CRPF.
The operation was undertaken under supervision of Jagunatharaddi Jalaraddi, SP, Munger and commandant of 215 battalion of CRPF. The place from where the IED’s were recovered is located north of Pesera village.
The recovered steel container IED’s were respectively of five kilogram and seven kilogram weight. As per available information the IED’s had been planted by extremists for targeting security personnel. Comprised by hilly and forest terrain Pesra and other adjoining villages are located in area constituting tri junction of Munger, Jamui and Lakhisarai districts.
The tri junction area had been stronghold of maoists in past. There was sizeable presence of maoists in village Pesra and its adjoining areas earlier. However in recent years maoists have considerably lost ground in tri junction area due to mounted pressure on them created by security personnel.
Strong presence of CRPF and district police force in the area has also contributed in waning influence of maoist. Though dominance of extremists in the area has reduced considerably however recovery of IED’s indicates they have not lost ground totally in the area.
