Bhagalpur: The 9th Bihar State Youth Boys Basketball Championship began at St Joseph’s School, Nathnagar here. The tournament is being orgainsed under the aegis of Basketball Association of Bihar and Basketball Association of Bhagalpur.
The championship was inaugurated by Rajesh Verma, deputy mayor of Bhagalpur. Sushil Kumar, secretary, Bihar Basketball Association, Mithun Kumar of Bhagalpur Zila Parishad, principal of St Joseph’s School Father Amanraj, vice principal Father Justine were present on the occasion. Boys and girls students of St Joseph’s School presented a colorful programme to mark the opening function. 16 districts from across the state are participating in this competition.
In the day’s matches, Saran beat Munger 28-14, Rohtas beat Nawada 52-12, Bhojpur beat Aurangabad 33-18 and Munger beat Madhepurs 30-12, Saran beat Darbhanga 38 -22, Muzaffarpur beat Jehanabad 33-18 and Banka beat Saharsa 13-10
