Patna: Patna beat Muzaffarpur 3-1 to win the men’s team title at the Hundred 17th Umesh Verma Bihar State Inter District Junior and Senior Badminton Championship at Indoor Hall in Samastipur on Sunday.
Katihar won the women’s team championship, defeating Patna 2-1, while Patna won the boys U-19 final, defeating Munger 2-1. With two titles in their credit out of three at stake, Patna emerged champions.
In the men’s team final, Saksham Vats of Patna beat Amrit Raj of Muzaffarpur 21-13, 21-18. In the second singles kartik of Patnabeat Yashvardhan of Muzaffarpur, 21-19, 21-18.
In the men’s team event, doubles Patna pair Akshar Arthuv and Gopal Kumar lost to Muzaffarpur pair Amrit Raj and Tanveer Ahmad 12-21, 23-25.
In the reverse singles, Gopal Kumar of Patna beat Tanveer Ahmad of Muzaffarpur 21-16, 26-24 to win the match and team title for Patna.
In the women’s team final, Srija of Patna beat Vaibhavi Singh of Katihar 21-7, 21-16 in the first singles. However, in the women’s doubles, Patna pair Sara Kausar and Jainab Nazir los to Katihar pair Vaibhavi Singh and Somya Bharti 19-21, 13-21. Later in the reverse singles, Sara Kausar of Patna lost to Somya Bharti of Katihar 11-21, 10-21.
In the boys’ U-19 singles, Saksham Vats of Patna beat Parag Singh of Munger 18-21, 21-9, 21-15. However, in the doubles, the Patna pair of Saksham Vats and Kartik lost to Parag Singh and Asadullah of Munger 18-21, 21-9, 21-15. In the second singles, Kartik of Patna beat Asadullah of Munger 21-11, 21-14 to win the match and the junior boys title.
