Patna, July 15 Opposition’s presidential candidate Yashwant Sinha visited Patna on Friday to garner support for the July 18 Presidential election amid rousing welcome from RJD, Congress and Left parties.
A function was oraginsed by the opposition parties, including RJD, Congress and Left to extend support to Sinha for the Presidential election. All the 80 MLAS of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Rajya Sabha MPs, Congress state president Madan Mohan Jha , Congress MLAs and left parties MLAs were present on the occasion.
Sinha is contesting against NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu. Though Sinha’s position is said to be weak, the opposition parties are supporting him to convey a strong message to NDA government at centre that the coming days, especially the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, will not be a cakewalk for NDA. .
Replying to a question of scribes on seeking support from Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, he said that He has been calling leaders across the country seeking support for the presidential election. “I dialled the Bihar chief minister repeatedly, sent messages, but it seems my status is too low that he (Mr Kumar) considers speaking with me inappropriate. So no, I haven’t spoken with him,” he said
NDA candidate Droupadi Murmu visited Patna on July 5 for campaigning.
The total votes values of Rajya Sabha, Lok Sabha and MLA of Bihar is 81239 including MLAs having 42039 vote value and MPs of both the houses have 39200.
BJP has the highest votes in Bihar. It has 23 Lok Sabha MPs and 77 MLAs. The total vote value of the BJP in Bihar is 28,721. JD-U has 22,485 vote values with 47 MLAs and 16 Lok Sabha MPs. RJD has 17,340 vote values with 80 MLAs, Congress has 4,687 vote values with 19 MLAs. Left parties have 2,768 with 16 MLAs and AIMIM 173 vote values with one MLA in Bihar.
