Patna: Bihar women’s team faced defeat in a thrilling match against Odisha. Odisha defeated Bihar 72-56 in a close fight in the 72nd Senior National East Zone Basketball Tournament at Patliputra Sports Complex here on Sunday.
For Bihar, Riti got 21 points and for the Odisha, Lipra got 34 points.
Earlier, Director General of Bihar State Sports Authority, Raveendran Sankaran and Director cum Secretary, Bihar State Sports Authority Pankaj Kumar Raj encouraged the players.
Earlier, in the women’s category match played between Uttarakhand and West Bengal, Bengal defeated Uttarakhand by 76-43. For Uttarakhand, Priyanka scored 12, Sarita scored 6 while West Bengal’s Medhya scored 14, Kiran scored 10 and Neha scored 13 points.
Earlier, West Bengal women registered a resounding victory over Jharkhand. Bengal defeated beat Jharkhand 72-24. Anjana scored 12 points and Poulmy made 10 points for Bengal. For Jharkhand, Richa scored 7 and Jaya scored 6. Uttar Pradesh defeated Bihar 77-36. For Bihar, Deepshikha scored 15, Radha scored 8. While Rakhi of the winning team scored 21 and Ashwathi scored 9 points.
Organising secretary Vinay Kumar said that the closing cum prize distribution ceremony of the tournament will be held at 4 pm on Monday.
