Patna: Bihar have strengthened their position against Tripura in the final match of the Vijay Merchant Trophy U-16 Men’s Plate Group, being played at Vikas Cricket Ground, Bhubaneswar. By the end of the third day’s play, Bihar had set a target of 331 runs for Tripura. In reply, Tripura reached 75 for 4 at stumps, leaving them with a further 256 runs to chase on the final day.
Bihar posted 279 runs in 97.2 overs in their first innings. In the second innings, they extended their lead to 330 by scoring 208 runs in 92 overs before being bowled out.
In the second innings, Animesh Raj scored 44, Pritam Raj added 41, Vivek Anand chipped in with 25, and Mohit Kumar contributed 22. With support from other players, Bihar reached a total of 208, giving Tripura a substantial target of 331 runs.
Siddharth Debnath led Tripura’s bowling attack with 4 wickets, while Mahin and Kishan took two wickets each.
By the end of the third day, Tripura were 75 for 4 in 37 overs in their second innings. Mainak Saha scored 23 runs, while Rajdeep remains unbeaten with a top score of 34.
For Bihar, Mohit Kumar was the standout bowler, claiming 2 wickets, while Animesh and Satyam took one wicket each.
After three days of play, Bihar are in a commanding position, with Tripura needing 256 runs on the final day to win. Bihar look poised to secure a victory in this crucial match.
