Jehanabad, August 2: The pair of Vandana and Kavita of Vaishali beat the pair of Chandni and Muskaan of Police Academy-Patna, 35-20, 35-22 in the opening match of the Hirajhari Devi Memorial State Level Invitational Doubles Ball Badminton Tournament that began at Kumhwa Sports Ground in Jehanabad on Tuesday. The tournament is being organised under the aegis of Bihar State Ball Badminton Association and Jehanabad District Ball Badminton Association.
Earlier, the two-day tournament was inaugurated by Jehanabad Zila Parishad chairperson Rani Kumari and Jehanabad MLA Kumar Krishna Mohan alias Suday Yadav by lighting the lamp. They were also introduced to the players. The special guests were Gauri Shankar, secretary of Bihar State Ball Badminton Association, former Zila Parishad chairperson Sangeeta Devi, LJP vice president Indu Kashyap. Gopal Sharan Singh presided over the function. The guests were welcomed by District Ball Badminton Association secretary Vijendra Ekka and vote of thanks was proposed by CP Singh. The stage was conducted by Deepak Singh Kashyap, secretary, East Champaran District Ball Badminton Association.
On this occasion, chief patron Chandra Bhushan Sharma, Kamlesh Kumar Singh, Manoj Singh, Pankaj Kumar, Nitish Kumar, vice president of Handball Association Virendra Singh,secretary Alok Kumar and many sports enthusiasts were present. The welcome anthem was presented by the students of Ram Krishna Paramhans Vidyalaya.
