Patna: Kho-Kho is a traditional Indian game dating back to ancient India. Kho-Kho is the most popular game in the subcontinent. This traditional Indian game is very popular in Bihar. The Kho-Kho Association of Bihar has taken a major decision to increase its popularity, especially from the grassroots level and to increase the interest of boys and girls towards it. In view of this, association has decided to organise first Bihar Girls Kho-Kho League in June.
With this, a selection trial for women Kho-Kho players from all over Bihar was organised on Sunday at Indoor Stadium, Munger. Neeraj Kumar Pappu, General Secretary of Kho-Kho Association of Bihar was the chief guest. Vivek Sugandha, OSD, Munger District Administration and District Sports Officer cum Senior Deputy Collector Chandan Kumar, Deputy Mayor of Munger Municipal Corporation Md Khalid were special guests. Sports lover Sai Shankar and JAP District President Pappu Kumar alias Pappi Yadav, DPO Shaligram Prasad of Namami Gange were present on the occasion.
All the guests were welcomed by the national women players of Munger District Kho-Kho Association by presenting saplings. Harimohan Singh, Secretary of Munger District Kho-Kho Association, was conducting the stage. On the occasion, the logo of the First Kho-Kho League was released by the guests.
More than 250 women players and more than 50 office bearers of different districts participated in this programme from all the districts of Bihar. District Kho-Kho Association Secretary Harimohan Singh thanked all the office bearers for organising the event in Munger.
Giving information about the programme, Neeraj Kumar Pappu, General Secretary of Kho-Kho Association of Bihar, said that through this mega event, a big platform will be provided to promote Kho-Kho sports and players in the state. The selection players will be done by the technical team formed by the Kho-Kho Association of Bihar. He said the league will be conducted on the mats.
Neeraj Kumar Pappu said the teams will be selected on the basis of talent and performance of the participating players. Players who perform well will in the league be given a chance to participate on behalf of the state team in various national Kho-Kho championships.
