TMBU Practice of Holding Chhatra Darbar Helps Timely Solution of Examination Related Problems and Grievances of Student

Bhagalpur: Holding of weekly Chhatra Darbar a practice introduced by T M Bhagalpur University (TMBU) has proved successful in solving problems and grievance redressal of students.

Conceptualized by Dr Jawahar Lal, VC, and other concerned university officials, for improving mechanism of deliverance concerning students particularly in examination related matters, the Chhatra Darbar has remarkably helped reduce inconveniences of students.

As per some members of university administrative circle, the incidents of student protests over non deliverance of services related to holding of examination, timely publication of result, issue of degree, correction of errors in admit card and mark sheets besides publication of pending results reflects success of Chhatra Darbar.

Delay in issue of degree it may be mentioned used to be a major problem for students in past. Prior to start of Chhatra Darbar last year, applications in thousands for issue of degree were pending disposal in university. It was in July previous year the practice of holding Chhatra Darbar was introduced.

The 24th Chhatra Darbar was held in university on last Saturday. Dr Deepak Kumar Dinkar, Public Relation Officer (PRO) of university said disposal of total 359 matters concerning students were ensured in last Chhatra Darbar chaired by VC.

Of the total matters disposed in last Chhatra Darbar, 333 were related to issue of degree and certificates while rest of the matters were related to postgraduate and undergraduate results, marks sheet, admit card and issue of migration certificates.

In his address at Chhatra Darbar, VC, Dr Lal said the TMBU experiment of ensuring solution of problems and redressal of grievances of students within specified time frame has led to encouraging results. Through Chhatra Darbar the university intends at making further efficient delivery mechanism of services concerning students, he added.

Dr Anand Kumar Jha, controller of examination, TMBU said applications regarding all examination related matters including issue of degree and certificates, correction in results, admit card, mark sheets, publication of pending results beside other matters is received from students on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of a week. Subsequently Chhatra Darbar is organized on Saturday of the week for disposal of applications, he added.

Informing since last year more than five thousand degrees and certificates have been distributed among students in Chhatra Darbar the controller of examination said the backlog of applications that had piled up in past has almost exhausted.

Meanwhile the TMBU experiment of timely deliverance of examination related services to students has caught attention of other universities in state. The PRO said TMBU Chhatra Darbar initiative has received appreciation from chancellor’s office and human resources development department of state government.

For solution of problems and redressal of grievances of students, holding Chhatra Darbar is under active consideration of some other universities of state, to the best of my information, the PRO added.
