Thousands of devotees throng Lord Shiva temples on first Monday of Sawan in Patna

Patna, July 19: Thousands of devotees thronged Lord Shiva temples in the city to perform Jalabhishek on the first Monday of the holy month Sawan. The Monday is considered to be the most auspicious day to appease Devo Ke Dev Mahadev.

Since early morning, huge crowd  thronged the Lord Shvia temples nearest to their residence and offered prayers to Bhole Nath with bilba patra, flowers, bhang leaves and dhatura fruit. The temples echoed with the chanting of Om Namah Shivay and Har, Har Mahadev.

Thousands of devotees also took holy dip in the River Ganga and collected Ganga water. Later, they began their journey for the nearest Lord Shiva temples with kanwars on their shoulders. Some of them also headed towards Baidyanath Dham (Deoghar).
