PATNA: St. Xavier’s College of Management and Technology (SXCMT) Patna, has been accredited with a B++ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).  With this SXCMT has become the first college under Aryabhatta Knowledge University (AKU) to be accredited by NAAC.

An autonomous division of the University Grants Commission (UGC),  NAAC regularly evaluates and accredits colleges, universities and other recognised institutions to determine the “quality status” of higher educational institutions across the country.

A NAAC peer team visited the SXCMT campus on the November 3 and 4 for the first cycle of NAAC assessment. The three-member team assessed the college on various parameters, like curriculum; teaching learning & evaluation; research, innovation & extension; infrastructure & learning resources; student support & progression; governance, leadership & management; and institutional values & best practices.

The three-member NAAC team was led by Dr Shirish Kulkarni, Vice-Chancellor, Sardar Patel University Gujarat, and comprised Dr Prasant Patnayak, professor, Department of Computer and Electronics Science, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, Odisha and Dr Amutha Pandayan, former Principal, Government Arts College for Boys, Chennai.

After presentations by SXCMT Principal Fr Martin Poras SJ, IQAC, departments and committees, the NAAC team inspected college facilities and interacted with the principal, faculty members, student council office-bearers, alumni association members and parents.

A cultural programme was organised on November 4 for the NAAC team. The visit concluded with an exit meeting chaired by the SXCMT Principal in which Dr Kulkarni shared some key observations and made suggestions for improvement. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks proposed by Fr Sherry George SJ.

Attributing the “award of NAAC grade” to the dedicated staff and students, Fr Marti Poras SJ said, “SXCMT, a Jesuit institution, delivers value-based education that prepares students to become competent professionals who are motivated to lead and serve the society and nation. It is a proud achievement for the college and indeed a great day for us.”
