Patna: Sushmita has been elected new president of Bihar Fencing Association while Kushal Prasad has been elected as secretary. Along with these, a new executive committee has also been constituted for the session 2023-27 in the annual general body meeting and election of Bihar Fencing Association held on Sunday.
The 26th Annual General Body meeting of the Bihar Fencing Association was held on Sunday in Patna and the election of the new executive for the session 2023-27 was also held. Advocate Naveen Kumar Sinha was the election officer and Jai Kumar Sinha, secretary of Jharkhand Fencing Association, was the observer of Fencing Association of India for the election.
Madhu Sharma, Manish Kumar have been elected vice-presidents while Ranjan Kumar and Appu Kumar have elected as as joint secretary. Rohit Shankar has been elected as the treasurer. Annu Shakti Singh, Rajesh Kumar Shah, Manoj Kumar Rai, Subodh Kumar Yadav and Deepak Kumar have been elected as the new executive members. Ramashankar Prasad, former secretary of the Bihar Fencing Association, was unanimously nominated as the patron of the organisation.
Newly elected president Sushmita Ratna said that the Bihar fencing has given me a big responsibility, on which I will try my best to live up to it. She said that her full emphasis would be on promotion of fencing in the state. She said that the aim of the association is to promote this game in schools, colleges and universities. “The game will soon be started in different schools of Patna”, she said.
Newly elected Secretary Kushal Prasad said that the association will organise championships of different age groups but our full focus will be on training programme. “Apart from normal training, special training will given to the players before national tournaments”, he said.
In the meeting, the programme of domestic tournaments to be held in the session 2023-24 was discussed. All the accounts including the audit report were presented in the meeting.
Office bearers of several districts including Manoj Kumar Rai (Munger), Nishant Kumar (Banka), Subodh Kumar Yadav (Lakhisarai), Gopal Kumar (Samastipur), Vicky Kumar (Katihar), Manish Kumar (Patna), Vikash Sharma (Patna), Ranjan Kumar (Jamui), Deepak Kumar (Patna), Appu Kumar (East Champaran), Md Ilyas Ansari (Darbhanga), Priyanka Kumari (Muzaffpur) were present in the meeting.
