Patna: The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of five new judges to the Patna High Court, increasing the total number of judges to 39. The recommendation was made during a meeting held on February 20, 2025, and has been forwarded to the Central Government for approval.
The newly recommended judges, all from the advocate quota, are:
1.Advocate Alok Kumar Sinha
2. Advocate Ritesh Kumar
3. Advocate Soni Srivastava
4. Advocate Saurendra Pandey
5. Advocate Anshul alias Anshul Raj
Currently, the Patna High Court has 34 judges, including the Acting Chief Justice, against a sanctioned strength of 53. With the appointment of these five judges, the working strength will rise to 39, leaving 14 positions still vacant.
