Lucknow: Two days ago in the assembly, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described members of the Samajwadi Party (SP) as a ‘threat to women’s safety.’ This statement gained unsettling confirmation when a case emerged from Ayodhya on Wednesday involving the SP city president, who was accused of gangraping a minor and recording the crime.
Following the revelation, Ayodhya police arrested Moid Khan, the Samajwadi Party’s Bhadarsa Nagar President, and an employee from his bakery on Thursday. They are charged with the gangrape of a 12-year-old girl.

The crime came to light when the victim’s family discovered that she was pregnant. Subsequently, the family filed a report, prompting immediate action from the police due to the gravity of the situation. Notably, the Ayodhya MP has claimed ignorance of the SP leader’s actions and avoided media inquiries on the matter.
SSP Rajkaran Nair stated that SP leader Moid Khan initially raped the girl and recorded the assault. Over the next two and a half months, Khan continued to sexually abuse her, using the video to intimidate and threaten her. Khan committed these acts with the assistance of Raju Khan, an employee at his bakery. The situation came to light after two months when the minor became pregnant.
He further informed that the incident, which occurred in Bhadarsa town within the jurisdiction of the Purakalandar police station, was uncovered when the girl’s family sought medical help due to her abdominal pain, leading to the confirmation of her pregnancy. Following the family’s complaint, the police have filed a report against the accused under the POCSO Act. Both Moid Khan and Raju Khan have been arrested and are currently in jail.
SSP Rajkaran Nair reported that the victim’s father passed away two years ago, leaving her family to be supported solely by the earnings of her mother and sisters through labour. According to allegations, about two and a half months ago, after the victim had finished work, Raju Khan, an employee at Moid Khan’s bakery, informed her that Moid Khan wanted to see her.
When the victim arrived, Moid Khan assaulted her. It is alleged that SP leader Moid Khan raped her while Raju recorded the incident on his mobile phone. Following this, Raju also engaged in sexual activity with her. This pattern of abuse continued, with both men repeatedly assaulting the teenage victim. A video of Moid Khan’s assault is now circulating on social media. In response to the situation, Ayodhya MP Awadhesh Prasad stated that he is unaware of the details and has been avoiding further comment on the matter.
