Ryan, Abhishree claim Bihar U-11 chess titles

Patna, July 17: Ryan Mohammad won the boys’ title while Abhishree Dipu of Patna won the girls’ title in the Bihar State Under-11 Chess Championships at Youth Hostel hall here on Sunday. The tournament was organised under the aegis of All Bihar Chess Association.

In the boys section, the top seed Ryan Mohammed with 1618 rating won the title by scoring a total of six points off six rounds. The second position was decided on the basis of tie-break points between Rudra Veer Singh of Khagaria and Uttish Nathani of Muzaffarpur both collected 5 points. Rudra Veer Singh bagged the second spot while Uttish got the third position. Patna’s Parth finished fourth with 4.5 points.

In the girls’ section, top seed Abhishree Deepu defeated Mohini Pandit of Chapra in the final round and won the title with 4.5 points.

Aadya Shree of Muzaffarpur, playing on number two board defeated Shalini Srivastava of Patna got the second position. Dhanvi Karmakar of Kishanganj and Arpita Singh of Arrah got the third and fourth positions respectively with 3.5 points.

At the end of the last round, the winners were given away prizes by Rajendra Kumar, senior vice president of All Bihar Chess Association and Ajit Kumar Singh, convener of Ad-hoc Committee, Patna District Chess Association. Vice-president of All Bihar Chess Association Jayaprakash Sinha, treasurer Manish Kumar, chief arbiter Nandkishore joint secretary Vipal Subhashi, chess arbiter Iqbal Alam, Alok Priyadarshi, Vedprakash, Pratyush Kumar, Priyanka Kumari and many other officials were present on the occasion.
