Lucknow, May 18: In Uttar Pradesh, polling parties will be dispatched to polling booths on May 19, 2024 (Sunday) to ensure the safe, fair and peaceful conduct of voting scheduled for May 20, 2024, for the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha General Elections 2024 and the by-election on the Lucknow East Assembly constituency. Instructions have been issued to all District Election Officers for the timely dispatch of polling parties.
It is noteworthy that in the fifth phase, elections will be held in 14 Lok Sabha constituencies of the state, including Mohanlalganj, Lucknow, Raebareli, Amethi, Jalaun, Jhansi, Hamirpur, Banda, Fatehpur, Kaushambi, Barabanki, Faizabad, Kaiserganj, and Gonda, while there will be a by-election in the Lucknow East Assembly constituency.
The Chief Electoral Officer of the state, Navdeep Rinwa, stated that all District Election Officers related to the Lok Sabha constituencies of the fifth phase have been directed to provide necessary facilities for voters and polling personnel at polling booths and polling centres. The polling personnel will be provided with medical kits ahead of their departure in order to enable them to tackle heatstroke and other health related cases at the polling booths.
